Genealogy.com message board, posted Oct 4, 1998, Sally Hillis: My g greatfather was Richard Ormsby born in Connecticut, date unknown. Married Harriet (probably Badger) of Brimfield MA. My grandfather Fred Porter Ormsby was born 10-22-1861 in Palmer MA. According to Fred's obituary, the family moved to KS in 1982.

According to my grandfather Fred P. Ormsby's birth certificate, he was born 22 Oct 1861 in Palmer MA, son of Richmond Ormsby b. CT and Harriet b. in Brimfield MA. Fred Ormsby's newspaper obit in 1932 states that he was born in MA and came to Kinsley KS w/ his parents "Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ormsby" in 1872. Fred married my grandmother in 1884, and they and all of their children lived out their lives in eastern KS.
