An old Bible now in possession of Mr. Charles H. Ormsbee, 2d, who lives on a farm near Montpelier Center, Vt., has the former owner's name inscribed on the front cover, very dim;
"Mrs. Sally Ormsbee, East Montpelier, Vt." This is a Holbrook and Fessenden Bible, Stereotype Edition published in Brattleboro, Vt. No date. Pasted in the front is this notation addressed to Chas. Herbert Ormsbee, 1st, "This Bible was bought by your grandmother, Sally Ormsbee, with the money that her mother sent her from Massachusetts. This is what Aunt Louisa told me. It was her request that you have this book so to keep it in the Ormsbee Family. R. Louisa Town died Feb. 24, 1907." Ida R. Hopkins
The only family record in this Bible is the births of the children of Nathaniel and Sally Ormsbee, as already shown.
The following letter is one of those which have been preserved
by the Ormsbee family of Greenfield, N.Y.
Montpelier Mar. 20, 1884
Dear Cousin, R.M. Ormsbee
I received your letter but stormy weather and bad cold and bad
roads has prevented me from complying with your request sooner.
We are having a cold stormy winter the snow 2 1/2 feet deep and
drifts a plenty. Hay, grain, and all kinds of farm produce plenty,
prices moderate. Myself and family are in comfortable health at
present.
I send you the record of my father's family as near as I can get
it. I am not positive about my father's birth place. He never
said but little about his father's family. He said the first he
remembered was when the British invaded Warren, Mass. (this should
be R.I.) the people all fled. His mother led him by the hand to
a place of safety out of town. My brother Smith (Jesse Smith)
was enlisted in the War of the Rebellion, was wounded and died
(from the report sent to his wife) (His parenthesis) that is all
we know of his death. If this is any part of it not satisfactory
or not all here that you wanted please send me a line. I will
with pleasure do the best I can to inform you. Love to Mrs. Ormsbee
Yours truly, J.G. Ormsbee

This is one of the many examples found among the old letters and papers where Russell M. Ormsbee was always searching for history of his family.
1803 Perfect Maple Farm 1978
Nathaniel Ormsbee purchased an East Montpelier farm in 1803 and
built a house, which is presently used as a shop. It then passed
to his son Joel Tucker Ormsbee, and to his grandson, Lorenzo Ormsbee.
Lorenzo's daughter, Mary, married George D. Butler. They became
owner-operators. Their son, Allen C., and his wife, Maybeth, now
operate Perfect Maple Farm. They have three children. The farm
consists of 181 acres, plus 60 rented acres. The mixed herd has
60 animals, of which 35 are milkers. The family is involved in
many activities.
