Nathaniel Ormsbee purchased an East Montpelier farm in 1803 and built a house, which is presently used as a shop. It then passed to his son Joel Tucker Ormsbee, and to his grandson, Lorenzo Ormsbee.

Lorenzo's daughter, Mary, married George D. Butler. They became owner-operators. Their son, Allen C., and his wife, Maybeth, now operate Perfect Maple Farm. They have three children. The farm consists of 181 acres, plus 60 rented acres. The mixed herd has 60 animals, of which 35 are milkers. The family is involved in many activities.
