From: R.I.VR Vol.12. Colwellís Spirit of 76 for year of 1776. Gives Revolutionary War service for Joseph Ormsby as; "Joseph Ormsby. Col. Robert Elliott's Regt. of R.I. Troops. received pay of Ls 52-16s-4d."

Joseph Ormsbee made application for pension on May 2, 1818, in which he deposes; that he is 80 years of age and a resident of Moriah, Essex Co., New York; that he enlisted March 1778 for 3 years in the Town of Rehoboth, Mass. in the Regt. of Col. Henry Jackson of the Mass. Line; that he was in the Battles of Newport, R.I. and at Yorktown in the State of "Virginey"at the capture of Cornwalis. His pension was granted at the rate of $8.00 per month.

"Know all men by these presents that, I, Joseph Ormsbe of Rehoboth, the County of Bristol and Commonwealth of Mass. - - One certain house standing and being in Warren, aforesaid, on land belonging to Charles Mason of Swansea in the County of Bristol and Commonwealth of Mass., Twenty two feet in length and 18 feet in width, bounded westerly on the highway or Main county Road, leaving Kellyís Ferry to Bristol. Northly, Easterly, and Southerly of the said Mason land and opposite land belonging to heirs of Jonathan Bowen, deceased."
