"John Ormsbee(1733-1819) was a Lieut. of a Train Band under Capt. Amos Haile, R.I. Troops; He was also a seaman on the Privateer "Marquis de Lafayette". Born in Warren, R.I. and died in Shoreham, Vt."

"His mother's father held a Lieut. Comm. in the Continental Army and continued in service to the close of the Rev. War. Received an honorable discharge and $1400.00 pay. On his return to his home in Mass. Lt. Ormsbee paid $60.00 for a single bushel of corn."

In History of Shoreham, Vt. "John Ormsbee, Esq. from Warwick, Mass. settled here about 1788-89 on the farm now owned by Earl R. Delano." Mr. Edgar J. Wiley, a gr. gr. grson, has an account book of this John Ormsbee in which an entry dated Apr. 7, 1791 says; "Settled on my place today and worked 1/2 day"

In an old letter dated Warren, R.I. Nov. 29, 1799 from Joshua Ormsbee to his son Isaac of Greenfield, N.Y., a note added by Isaac's sister Rachel says "Your uncle John Ormsbee wife and son has been down this fall, They want I should come up and make them a visit. I expect to see Caleb. They live in a town called Montpelier. Nathaniel lives there near him"
Note: "Your Uncle John Ormsbee" would be a brother to her father, who was Joshua, and therefore a son of Ezra.
