lived the majority of their adult life in the Wash. D. C. and
Annapolis MD area. They Had 6 children. He also had a brother
Alfred who was born in Winnebego WI in 1902.

These were my grandparents. Grandpa Ormsby was most commonly known as Albert Ormsby. I lived with them during most of my grade school and high school life, because my parents were following the oil fields of Penn. And living at places distant from schools.
From some of the old letters, I found at the Ormsbee farm in Saratoga Co., N.Y., I have learned that Grandfather and Grand mother were in the oil fields around Oil City, Pa. In the period 1870 - 1880. Grand father has told me about hauling crude oil in barrels before the days of pipe lines, and of working on drilling wells in the early days of the Bradford, Pa. Oil boom. During my memory, he was a carpenter at Hamburg. He served one or two terms as Deputy Sheriff, of Erie County, N.Y.
It must have been about 1880/81 when he built a house on Linwood
Ave. in Hamburg where he lived until about 1912, when he built
another house on Linwood Ave. on the corner across from the Presbyterian
Church. They lived there until 1916, when grandmother died, after
which he came to Tulsa and lived with my mother until his death
in 1923.
Grandmother Ormsby was descended from early settlers in America;
the Knapps, the Jessups, and the Lockwoods. Branches of these
families moved from Greenwich and Stamford, Conn. To Boston Hill
in Erie Co., N.Y., near Hamburg in the early 1830s.
Grandmother was a home maker, always popular with her neighbors,
and relatives. She belonged to the Presbyterian Church and the
Eastern Star.
