In 1957 it was learned from Mrs. Grace Leddick of Schuylerville,
N.Y., Genealogist, and retired Historian of Saratoga Co., N.Y.
that the great grandson of Isaac Ormsbee, Roy H. Ormsbee, still
lived on the farm where Isaac had settled when he moved from Warren,

On this twentieth day of Sept. 1819 before me John Prior, one
of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of the county of Saratoga
personally appeared Isaac Ormsbee aged fifty six years resident
of the Town of Greenfield Saratoga County in the said State who
being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath
make the following declaration in order to obtain the provisions
made by the late act of Congress entitled an act to provide for
certain persons engaged in land and naval service of the United
States in the Revolutionary War. That the said Isaac Ormsbee enlisted
in the Town of Barrington, in the State of Rhode Island on the
first day of January 1781 some time in the month of February following
joined the Rhode Island regiment then commanded by Col. Green
and stationed at that time below the Highlands in the State of
New York on the East side of the Hudson River near Crompond(?)
and was placed in a company commanded by Thomas Cole.
Shortly after joining the said Regiment the said Col. Green
was killed and shortly after Lieut. Col. Jeremiah Olney was appointed
to the command of said Regiment and continued in that station
until the Revolutionary War was over and this deponent continued
to belong to said Regt. until the 14 June 1783 when he was discharged
at Saratoga in the State of New York and was with his Excellency
General George Washington at Yorktown at the taking of Cornwallis
this deponent further saith that during the time he belonged to
the United States Army he was a private soldier and that he is
now under such reduced circumstances that he stands in need of
assistance of his country for support. It will appear by his discharge
here annext bearing date June 14, 1783 Colonel Olney spelt his
name Armsbury insted of Ormsbee which is his right name should
it appear on the roll that his name is spelt Armsbury it must
have been a mistake of his officers for he always was taught to
spell his name Ormsbee and by that name he ought to have been
enrolled.
Signed: Isaac Ormsbee
Sworn and subscribed before me this 20th day of Sept. 1819
