Thompson Congregational Church
Town incorporated 1785, having been previously a part of Killingly which dates back to 1708.
The Congregational Church of Thompson was organized in 1730,
in what was then the North Society of Killingly and named "Thompson
Parish" in honor of a non-resident English proprietor, Sir
Robert Thompson, a distinguished nobleman, the first president
of the "Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign
Parts."
Rev. Marston Cabot, the first pastor, begins the marriage record
in 1730.
