Thompson Congregational Church

Town incorporated 1785, having been previously a part of Killingly which dates back to 1708.

The Congregational Church of Thompson was organized in 1730, in what was then the North Society of Killingly and named "Thompson Parish" in honor of a non-resident English proprietor, Sir Robert Thompson, a distinguished nobleman, the first president of the "Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts."
Rev. Marston Cabot, the first pastor, begins the marriage record in 1730.
