Probable son of Ezra and Mary (Salsbury) Ormsbee No vital records have been located giving the birth dates of any of their children, except one, Joseph, whose birth is found in the vital records of the Town of Barrington, R.I.

From a memorandum made by Mr. Frederick Thomas Carpenter, of 45 Covell Ave., Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Mr. Carpenter gives his family line as:

From the above it is safe to conclude that Ebenezer is a son of Ezra and Mary (Salisbury) Ormsbee.

From Descendants of James Cole of Plimouth by E.B. Cole (1908) Hannah Cole, born in Swansea, Mass. Jan. 14, 1716, married Nov. 24, 1744 Ebenezer Ormsbee. This marriage is also recorded in Swansea, Mass. vital records Book 2 (1702-1800) giving the same date.

In his manuscript on the genealogy of the Ormsbee family, Mr. Arthur E. Ormsbee quotes from Vital records of R.I.;

Ebenezer Ormsby, married Hannah Cole. He was the son of Ezra Ormsby and Mary Salisbury, who was a Salisbury of the family of the original William Salisbury of Denbigshire, Wales. Ebenezer was born 1738.

The date of Ebenezer's marriage is well established as Nov. 24, 1744. If he was born in 1738, he would be only 6 years old which is impossible. The Cole genealogy states that Hannah was born in 1716, and since in those days as now, it was not customary for the wife to be older than the husband, it is believed that Ebenezer was the first child of Ezra and Mary and that he was born in the year 1714. His parents were married Dec. 25, 1713.
