William Hammond was born probably before 1648. Killed at Swansea 28 June 1675, he was buried there the next day. He married at Rehoboth, 9 July 1672, Elizabeth Bartram, who was born about 1654, probably at Lynn, daughter of William Bartram of Lynn and Swansea, and had died by 1713, probably at Swansea. Elizabeth married, second, at Lynn 22 May 1677, Joseph Fisk, with whom she had probably five children.

Elizabeth Hammond, born at Rehoboth, 24 Sept. 1673. Died at Woodstock, Conn., 5 Feb. 1760, aged 87. Married, first, at Swansea, 17 April 1695, James Franklin formerly of Dartmouth, born ca. 1650. Elizabeth, all of whose husbands had been maried previously, apparently had no children of her own.

William Hammond, housewright and yoeman, was born about 1675, probably at Swansea, and he died at Rehoboth in January 1729/30. He married, first at Swansea, 10 January 1695, Elizabeth Cole, who died at Rehoboth in November 1705, probable daughter of John Sr. and Elizabeth (Ryder) Cole. Children with second wife, Rebecca Ormsbee:

Rebeckah Hammond, born at Rehoboth, 11 Oct 1707, died probably at Cumberland, RI, between 1747 and 1758; married at Rehoboth or Attleborough, 18 Jan. 1727/28, Michael Carpenter, born at Rehoboth 14 Oct 1701, son of William Jr. And Elizabeth (Robinson) Carpenter, died at Attleborough, 28 Aug. 1729. She married, second, at Rehoboth, 15 July 1730, Jonathan Ormsbee Jr., born at Rehoboth 1 May 1705, son of Jonathan and Mercy (Fitch) Ormsbee, and widower of Experience Chafee who died ca. 21 Aug. 1729. In 1742/43 Ormsbee Sr. became the second husband of Rebeckah's stepmother, Martha. About 1735, Rebeckah and Jonahan moved to that part of Attleborough which in 1646/47 became Cumberland, RI; their daughter Dorothy was born at Rehoboth 27 April 1734, and son Gideon at Attleborough 24 Sept 1736. Though Rebeckah is said to have died in 1741, she and Jonathan were residing at Attleborough in 1743/44 when they co-signed a deed to property there. At Cumberland, 7 Sept. 1747, both acknowledged having sold other Attleborough property in 1743/44. Jonathan appears often in Cumberland town cuncil records beginning 1 June 1747, and daughters Experience and Doroth married there in 1749/50 and 1759, respectively. Jonathon Ormsby married, third, at Cumberland, 19 Feb. 1759, Ruth Staples, born at Wrentham, Mass., 20 Aug 1728, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Bartlett) Staples. In late 1745 he had bought 26 acres at Attleborough abutting land of Joseph Staples, and in 1747 the two served Cumberland in "Valliars of Reale Estate."

Reboboth Vital Records, Bristol Co. Probate Abstr. Arnold's transcript of Rehoboth vial records names Experience as the mother of all three Ormsbee children born there. The origianl records clearly show, however, that her only child was Jonathan, born 21 Aug. 1729, died 5 Feb. 1729/30, and that the mother of Experience and Dorothy, born 1731 and 1734, respectively, was Rebeckah. The published records accurately reflect the originals indacting Experience's death as August 1729, Rehoboth Vital Records.
