This family is of importance in compiling the history of the
Ormsby family because of the connection to the Blackmar
family and two marriages into the family of Isaac
Ormsbee.
In the family Bible of
Esek Williams is a page giving the births of the children
of "William Wasson". Wife is not mentioned.
In old Medberry Cemetery, near Porter Corners, Town of Greenfield, Saratoga Co., N.Y., there is a grave stone reading; "In memory of William Wasson, died Aug. 11, 1803 aged 52-0-2"

Born Apr. 7, 1798 at Greenfield, N.Y., d. Nov. 28, 1832 aged 35 yrs. Daughter of Isaac and Patience (Chase) Ormsbee. Buried in Deuels Corners Cemetery. Philanda Ormsbee
Born Sept. 24, 1794 at Barrington, R.I. Daughter of Isaac and Patience (Chase) Ormsbee. Sister of John Wasson's 2d wife. She d. Jan. 7, 1883 at Buffalo, N.Y. aged 88-3-12. Buried Deuels Corners CemeteryChildren: By 1st wife. Only one of record.

It gives the death of, "Phila Ormsbee, widow of the late Capt. John Wasson of Hamburg - -". It mentions her step-son, Horace Wasson, and says; "Her husband and two of his brothers, Thomas and William, were in the War of 1812 at the Battle of Fort Erie in 1813."
In a letter dated, Hamburg, N.Y. Apr. 7, 1878 to Russell Ormsbee and signed by S.V.R. Graves, he asks for affidavitts "so Mrs. Philanda Wasson can apply for a pension of $8.00 per month."
Application made by Philanda Wasson for a pension on the service of John Wasson in the 48th Regt. of N.Y. Militia, under Capt. Ezekiel Cook. Enlisted Sept. 1st, 1812 and discharged Sept. 1, 1814. In the application she gives the names and marriage dates of her husband's first two wives. An old letter dated Oct. 21, 1849 says, "He and family have since moved to Ioa."
In Deuels Corners Cemetery, there is a stone reading "Andrus Wasson, son of L. and A. Wasson, d. June 13, 1847 aged 21 years 10 months." (GR)
From: "Centennial History of Erie Co., N.Y." by Crisfield Johnson (1876) p. 294; "In the year 1815, Lemuel Wasson was elected Supervisor from the Town of Hamburg" He was also Supervisor in 1820-21-22-23-24. In 1828, he was Sheriff.

Hamburg (Orchard Park) on Wed. at 11 AM."
