1. EDWARD (1) BARNEY (1) was born Abt. 1570 in of Bradenham, Buckinghamshire,
England(1), and died 18 August 1645 in Bradenham, Buckinghamshire, England (1).
He married CHRISTIAN(1) in Bradenham, Buckinghamshire, England1.

The father of Jacob Barney, founder of the largest American Barney family,
seems to have been Edward Barney who was buried in the Bradenham Parish
Churchyard, Buckinghamshire, England, August 18, 1645. His wife, Christian,
was buried there March 9, 1639.

Edward Barney of Bradenham, Bucks, Yeoman, left a will dated April 13, 1643,
with a codical dated October 9, 1643; proved October 25, 1645: ".... . I
give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Barney the sum of ten pounds of lawful
money of England (if he is living at the time of my decease and do come over
into England and personally demand the same)."

In researching the Barney name in England, it is apparent that the family
originated in Norfolk County where the family has been prominent since the
Norman invasion. Many pedigrees exist for this ancient famaily, especially
for the main branch who are Baronets with their seet at Reedham, near
Berney. It seems probable that Edward Barney of Buckinghamshire was a
descendant of the Norfolk family, but my sources in England say that they
are "satisfied that the Reedham, Norfolk family, and the Bradenham, Bucks
family have no connection at least within a considerable distance in time of
1629."

54, 119. ELIZABETH (BETTY) BARNEY, daughter of Daniel and Alice (Wheaton)
Barney, was born April 14, 1733 at Rehoboth. She married, Nov. 8, 1753 at
Rehoboth, Joshua Read (or Reed) who was born Jan. 21, 1728 at Rehoboth. They
moved from Swansea to Cheshire, Mass. sometime after 1756. Joshua Read died
June 23, 1777 at Cheshire, and Betty (Barney) Read died at Cheshire Sept.
18, 1815, aged 82. She is buried at the Stafford Hill Cemetery.Children's
births are from Joshua Read's Bible.307. Daniel Read, b. Sept. 18, 1754; his
daughter Lucy md. Daniel Anthony and their daughter was the renowned Susan
