Source From the Book "From Log Cabins to the White House" by Mary Brewer, we learn his place of birth and the following: John Bradford came to America on the ship "Temperance" as headright of William Peirce..this means his passage was paid by this man. Wm Peirce claimed land in Prince William Co., now Fauquier Co. VA. John lived at Marr's Run where he met John Marr and his daughter Mary Marr Kingcart and by this first marriage had a daughter Martha Kingcart who married John McBee. An ancestor of John Bradford, also named John Bradford and was born in the 1500's in England. He was imprisoned in 1554 for his religious convictions and was a cellmate of Dr. Rowland Taylor at Kings Bench Prison in London. This John was burned at the stake in 1558. His sons and relatives fled to Scotland.
