Most of the records of this family are taken from an old Bible
of Esek Williams (1766-1829)
with memorandum of the children of Frederick Williams, his father,
and of William Wasson the father of his second wife, Mary Wasson
Blackmar, along with her family by her first husband, Martin Blackmar.

"In 1812, the bears were very troublesome and did much damage
to the standing corn, so that, parties to hunt them were frequently
formed. At one such hunt in September, Martin Blackmar was accidentally
shot and killed by William Williams."
From: Russell Ormsbee's Scrap Book
"Wolcott Adset and James Dunning were the Commissioners by
whom most of the early roads were laid out. Nathan Green, Alpheus
Williams and Martin Blackmar were some of the early surveyors
who assisted them."
We have noted that Martin Blackmar d. Sept. 29, 1812. His widow, Mary (Wasson) Blackmar md. 2d. Sept. 7, 1815 Esek Williams.
Comments: Esek Williams d. May 23, 1829. It was about this
time that several families from the Town of Greenfield, Saratoga
Co., N.Y. moved to Erie County, N.Y. to what was known as "Boston
Hill" in the Town of Boston, Near Hamburg, N.Y. Some of these
families were Ormsbee, Deuel, Williams, Baker, and Wasson. Mary
(Wasson) (Blackmar) Williams was the mother of Anna (Blackmar)
Ormsbee, and related to the Williams and Wasson families who moved.
After the death of Esek Williams she evidently went to Erie Co.,
N.Y. to spend her last
days and died there. On this "HILL" there is an old
deserted cemetery known today as the old Cole Road Cemetery. It
was in this cemetery that I found the grave of; "Mary Williams,
wife of Esek, and former wife of Martin Blackmar, d. Nov. 26,
1847 aged 70 yrs." This was in 1956. It was not until 1964
that I was directed to an old cemetery near Porter Corners, Saratoga
Co., N.Y. by Mrs. Mary Earls and her husband whose hobby is old
cemetery recording, called the old Mitchell Cemetery where we
found the grave of Esek Williams and his first wife and several
of their children.
