Looking for descendants of GIDEON Ormsby, born March 26, 1793
in Manchester, Vermont and his wife ESTHER BLAIR Ormsby, born
June 22, 1796 in Jerico, Vermont. Esther died October 21, 1854
in Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin. Gideon and Esther Ormsby
moved their family to Oxford, Wisconsin about 1850. Their children
were LOUISA (b. 1815), JOHN H. (born 1817; married Betsey Ann
Corrill), DAVID (born 1820), RHODA (born 1822), JAMES (born 1827),
and ESTHER (born 1832). All of the children were born in Geauga
County, Ohio. RHODA Ormsby married ALEXANDER MILLER and they ended
up in Dubuque, Iowa by 1870. Any information on the Ormsby/Blair/Miller
families would be appreciated.

The book PLACES AND FACES IN MARQUETTE COUNTY, WIS, VOL. I by
Fran Sprain overs the Ormsby family story on pages 116-119. A
picture from a portrait of David Ormsby is included. This book
and Vol. II are available from the Marquette Co. Historical Society
for
about $9 - $10 each. (ISBN 0-9630174-0-3) The two volumes are
paperback books and full of Marquette Co. family info, a wonderful
resource. Since the article is still copyright protected, I cannot
post it here but will send it to you for your personal use via
e-mail.
