The only possible reason for putting this Elijah here is the
assumption that Elijah Ormsby Jr. come to Lorain County, Ohio
where his brother Caleb is known to have come from Beckett, Mass.
And also, from a biographical sketch in, "History of Linn
County, Mo." (1882) where it says;
"Mr. Newton Ormsby, is the son of Elijah and Marietta Ormsby,
and was born in Lorain Co., Ohio, Feb. 25, 1848"

I found your email address at Ormsby.org. I am also trying
to do research on the Ormsby family. My mother was an Ormsby.
Her great grandfather was Elijah D. Ormsby. In the information
found at Ormsby.org, several of Elijah's younger children were
omitted. According to what I have been able to find, he had 5
children. Newton was the oldest-born in 1849.
There was another brother named Major S. Ormsby born in 1854.
I haven't been able to find any information on him. My great
grandfather, Royal Jonathan Ormsby, was next. He was born 7/24/1856.
Martha M. Ormsby was next--born in 1862. I believe she is the
Minnie Ormsby that married Vorce. Jinnie Ormsby born in 1866
was next. I found her name on a census list and am not sure if
it is correctly spelled. I found the information above in the
1860 and 1870 Census reports for Decatur, Van Buren County, Michigan.
I would love to share some of this with other Ormsby's.
I have recently come across pictures, postcards, newpaper clippings etc, that my grandmother, Zoa Ormsby, collected. In trying to sort through them and determine who everyone is I have come accross many postcards from who I believe to be Newt Ormsby. Some are simply signed N.O.
