Looking for any information on Major Ormsby; James (Major) Ormsby was named James after his grandfather (James Williamson Ormsby)but adopted the name Major Ormsby. Major (James) Ormsby was born at Hermitage (near Sharon), Mercer County, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1869. Major Ormsby married Jesse Anna Fink. They acquired and developed a large ranch at Casper, Natrona Co., He and the family lived at 536 South Center St. Casper Wyoming where he raised sheep, horses and cattle. He also owned feed lots and land at Arlington, Washington Co. Nebraska, where his youngest son, Roland Ormsby was manager of the Ormsby Orchard. Major Ormsby had three sons (Orland, Lawrence, and Roland) and two daughters (Helen Mar, and Alice). His fathers name was Leander Matthew Ormsby. I have a lot of information on his ancestors I would be happy to share. I have written a 40 page paper on the Sons of Matthew Ormsby and some of thier decendents. Major Ormsbys oldest son Orland Ormsby is my grandfather.
